Feminine Personas and the Environments in which they Exist

Something that I have always found interesting about feminine style is that it has the ability to completely change with mood, season, and trends in ways that most masculine style typically does not (except for in high fashion situations). The combinations that can be created through a plethora of accessories, clothes, shoes, hairstyles, and makeup styles are essentially endless. My personal style has always had a ranging variety, spanning from comfy and oversized, quirky patterns, flowerchild aesthetic, to vintage 70s/80s/90s/Early 2000s. Ever since I was little I have loved being able to shift my style from one day to the next, each one speaking to a different part of my personality but ultimately all relating to my inner being. Feminine Personas and the Environments in which they Exist explores this concept through the adaptability of physical appearance and self-portraiture. By changing my outfit, hairstyle, accessories, and makeup for each individual shoot, I was able to give tangibility to the different personas that exist within the complexities of my identity. These characters exist within controlled environments that work to compliment their individual styles. The personas are captured interacting naturally within their environments rather than posed in order to add another level of reality. In this way, they become grounded within a space that brings out their unique qualities and quirks. What emerges from this series then is a variety of caricatures of myself that work together to express how outward identity can be expressed in a variety of ways while still speaking to an inner self.
